Sac County Sheriff’s K9 Remo Receives Protective Vest From Vested Interest In K9s

Sac County Sheriff’s Office K9 Remo is now equipped with a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a generous donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest bears the embroidered sentiment “In memory of K9 Hobbs, Des Moines, IA – EOW 12/12/23”. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is dedicated to providing protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement dogs across the United States. These custom-fitted and NIJ-certified vests are potentially lifesaving for K9 officers. To date, the organization has supplied over 5,500 vests to K9s in all 50 states, valued at $6.9 million. The program is open to U.S. service dogs aged at least 20 months old that are actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. Dogs with expired vests are also eligible. Tax-deductible contributions support the program, with a single donation of $985 sponsoring one vest. For more information or to contribute, visit www.vik9s.org or contact Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. at 508-824-6978.
