Elizabeth “Lizzy” Gingery, age 53, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Churdan, IA, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at her home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Merlin Schrad as Celebrant. Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. on Monday in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery near Churdan. Memorials are preferred to the family for a later designation.
Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Elizabeth was born on September 19, 1970 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, IA. She was the daughter of Robert Martin and Karen Vey (Flack) Gingery. She attended the Paton-Churdan Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1990. During her high school years, she was active in the band, the drama department, and was a cheerleader for several sports. Liz then attended Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge where she received her associate degree in preschool education. She later attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for a short time before moving to Lake City, IA. She worked as a nanny for a few years before becoming employed at the Kid’s Spot in Lake City. She moved to Jefferson and worked as a preschool teacher at Pied Pipers Preschool before making Carroll her home. She was employed at the Carroll Area Childcare Center and Preschool before most recently working in the dietary department at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Elizabeth was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word puzzles in her spare time. She enjoyed her role as Aunt Liz and being with her nieces and nephews. Liz was a spiritual person and practiced her strong faith throughout her life. She loved and cherished the time spent with her family.
Elizabeth is survived by her parents Bob and Karen Gingery of Carroll; her siblings and their families: sister Anna Gingery of Carroll; sister Teresa (Todd) Arenholz and their children Nicole Arenholz, Morgan (Wesley) Petersen and Halle Arenholz all of Waverly, IA; brother Rob (Renee) Gingery and their children Peyton, Madelyn, Liam and Wyatt Gingery all of Holland, IA, and brother David (Jeana) Gingery and their daughters Katelyn and Ava Gingery all of Slater, IA; aunts and uncles: Cindy (Craig) Balm of Carroll, Kathy (Raymond) Matthews of Hamburg, IA, Maxine Gingery of Onamia, MN, and Anne Gingery of Jefferson; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother Joshua Gingery; paternal grandparents George and Helen Gingery; maternal grandparents Harold and Kathryn Flack; and aunts and uncles: John and Sharon Wagner, Joe Gingery and Jim Gingery.
