A Breda Family’s Children’s Book On The “ABC’s Of Corn” Releases Monday

A new children’s book, “ABC’s of Corn,” is set for release on June 3 and promises to educate and entertain young readers while celebrating agricultural heritage. Written by sisters Norma Kennebeck, Jean Marie Thelen, and Lois Roets, the book explores corn’s vital role in daily life for children aged 3 to 10. The sisters grew up on the family farm near Breda and have all since passed away. The book offers an alphabetic journey through the world of corn, featuring colorful illustrations and engaging sections like “Corn Facts” and “Fun Facts.” The book is a family affair inspired by Jean’s son, Tony Thelen. It involves contributions from over 25 relatives, including artwork, historical artifacts from their father’s hybrid seed corn business, and more. All proceeds from “ABC’s of Corn” will benefit 4-H, supporting youth development nationwide. The book will be sold exclusively online via Amazon.
