Sally Agre of Coon Rapids, formerly of Forest City

Sally Sue Agre, age 78, of Coon Rapids, IA, and formerly of Forest City and Bayard, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids surrounded by her family.
     Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with John Kult officiating. Casket bearers will be Eric Edgington, Joe Canelos, Sam Canelos, Chris Hartl, Josh Smouse, and Bryan Hilgenberg. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 1 – 2 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service.

    Sally was born on April 7, 1946 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Lester and Mable (Kerr) Agre. She grew up in Bayard where she graduated from high school in 1964. She played basketball in high school, played clarinet in the band, and she took piano lessons. Sally attended Northwest Missouri State where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. She furthered her education earning her Master’s degree in Education and later a certificate in Reading Recovery, which was her passion. Sally taught in Forest City for 53 years. In 2019, she began the school year and shortly in she had a stroke which left her right side paralyzed and her ability to communicate minimal. Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids became her new home in September of 2019 where she received excellent care teaching them to do things “Sally’s Way”!! She enjoyed family reunions and birthday potlucks always arriving on “Sally Time”!! She loved to travel, usually taking a trip each summer. She also went regularly to check on her family farm in Tioga, ND. Sally was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a strong faith and was a former member of the Bayard Methodist Church. Sally was also a charitable donor for several religious organizations throughout the years.
     Sally is survived by nieces: Debbie Goodhue-Nolte (Paul), Angela Canelos, and Kristen Agre; nephews: Eric Edgington (T.J.) and Bret Agre; grand-nephews: Joe Canelos, Sam Canelos, and Jett Foster; a grand-nieces: Valerie and Ashton Goodhue-Nolte, Olivia Canelos, Lilly Edgington, and Winter Agre; and several cousins and many friends.
     Sally was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Mable Agre; two sisters: Marilyn Agre-Sours and Eileen Alexander; and a brother Arnold Agre.
