“Fun Galore in ‘24” is this year’s theme for Sac City’s Chautauqua Days, with events kicking off tomorrow (Thursday) through Sunday. The town’s annual celebration began back in 1856 to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, all while displaying the city’s pride and growth. Tomorrow (Thursday) morning will be Jackson’s 4-H waffle breakfast at the Sac City Fairgrounds 4-H building, followed by the rubber duck race at Chautauqua Bridge brought to you by the Sac City Swim Team. Friday evening, Scoop the Loop, with cars and trucks driving up and down Main Street. Those interested in watching are asked to bring a lawn chair and enjoy ice cream specials, root beer floats, and food from East Sac Snack Pantry, which will serve walking tacos and WLC Cuisine Food Truck. During Scoop the Loop, the winners of the first-ever Mullet Contest will be announced for best overall, best adult, best child, and most creative mullets. Friday night will finish with dancing and live entertainment from 2 ½ Guitars. Saturday, the primary celebration day, will be full of entertainment, including live music, wiener dog races, a car show, a parade, and more. Saturday night will conclude with fireworks at the East Sac County (ESC) Elementary School, followed by a night swim at the Sac City Aquatic Center. The last day of the 2024 Chautauqua Days will be on Sunday, with the Ecumenical church service, golf tournament, community float down the Raccoon River, and community picnic to wrap up the events for this year. Thousands of individuals travel to Sac City yearly for the annual celebration, and the Sac City Chamber hopes you will be one of them. A complete schedule has been included below.
