Today (Wednesday) is the final day local families can pick up food through the Carroll Community School District’s (CCSD) Summer Grab & Go Feeding Program, which saw more than 40,000 meals distributed over the break. In only six weeks, the program distributed 42,575 meals to children and students from the area, which doesn’t include this week’s meals. Food Services Director Melanie Girard says, “We could not have achieved this without the incredible dedication and hard work of our Summer Food Program staff and volunteers. There were several occasions where some staff members worked 11-hour days, without being asked, to ensure everything was ready for our Wednesday distributions. Their efforts were truly remarkable and made this program possible.” Administrators also thank the families who participated for their support for staff and patience, as the high participation made things challenging at times. They also credit AE Dairy for contributing a milk truck and driver at the site to assist in the distribution.
