The Carroll Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s Band Day theme, “From music in our streets to dirt on our cleats,” celebrating the community’s ties to baseball. The chamber released the theme in an email to members on Monday. The motif is appropriate, as Carroll’s love for baseball has been apparent over the last decade, with the return of Merchants baseball and the class 1A and 2A state baseball tournaments to Carroll’s historic Merchants Park, which celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. The 67th edition of the time-honored Band Day tradition is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5. Registration is currently open for middle and high school and collegiate bands wishing to participate and for parade entries at www.carrolliowa.com/band-day.
