William Geary of Carroll

William James Geary, age 84, of Carroll, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Journey Senior Services in Carroll.
     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Carroll with Pastor Terry Plocher and Rev. Robyn Plocher officiating.  Music will be by Nancy Davis.  Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. in the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View with military honors by Carroll American Legion.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Village.
     Visitation will be held at 9:30 A.M. – 10:45 A.M. Tuesday morning prior to the funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.
     William was born on April 1, 1940 in Lake View, IA and was the son of Beuford and Margaret (Dean) Geary. He attended the Lake View Community Schools.  On September 10, 1957 he enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on March 23, 1961 stationed in Japan. Bill was united in marriage with Lana Sanders on October 3, 1961 in Yankton, SD. He was employed by Crouse Cartage Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. Bill loved to go camping and fishing. He was a hard worker and helped at Wittrock Motors in retirement.  Bill loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
     William is survived by his wife Lana Geary of Carroll; his sons, Danny (Susie) Geary of Carroll, Randal “Randy” Geary of Des Moines; daughter-in-love Deanna Weber of Kansas City; grandchildren: Nadine Geary, Nikki (Nathan) Grau, Justin (Lynnzie) Geary, Andy (Trisha) Geary, Heather (Jared) Leeper, and Holli (Kyle) Hausladen; thirteen great-grandchildren;  his siblings: Darlene Kluver of Carroll, Ron (Sandy) Geary of Magnolia, TX, Shirley (Robert) Perez, of Panama City, FL, David Geary of Lake View, Deanna Bozeman of Branson, MO; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Walrod (Ron) of Ogden and Joni Heun of Lake View; and many extended family and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents Beuford and Margaret Geary; his father and mother-in-law Carl and Irma Sanders; and sisters Jeannette Rench (Dale) and Mary Ellen Huebner (Dale).
