Fred Lee Lappe of Auburn

 Fred Lee Lappe, age 73, of Auburn, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Father Patrick Behm as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur and Sheri Loughran. Casket bearers will be Fred’s sons: Jeff, Brian, and Cory, and grandsons: Colby, Jacob, Tyler, and Jack. The honorary casket bearer will be his son: Christopher Lappe. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
     A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 6th at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 11:45 A.M. Saturday morning where visitation will resume until 12:45 P.M. prior to the Mass.
     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.
     Fred Lee Lappe was born September 20, 1950, in Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Arthur and Barbara (Heater) Lappe and grew up in Coon Rapids, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Ruth (Stork) Lappe on January 3, 1970. Fred and Ruth made their home in Carroll and were blessed with 4 sons: Christopher, Jeffery, Brian, and Cory. Fred and Ruth moved to Colorado for a short period of time, and then in 1996, they bought what became the “Lappe Family Acreage” in Auburn.
     Fred was a machine operator and a truck driver and also held a single engine pilot’s license for a period of time. Fred had a special love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and enjoyed watching the wildlife that walked through their yard. He really enjoyed being a grandpa, and the kids always loved spending time with him. When his grandkids were young, he could usually be found getting a makeover or manicure by them, giving them a ride in the back of his pickup, or pushing them around the yard in his wheelbarrow.
     Fred is survived by his sons: Jeff (Tina) Lappe of Spencer, IA; Brian Lappe (Melisa Manning) of Auburn, IA; Cory (Mary) Lappe of Diamond Bar, CA; 13 grandchildren: Bailey Vonnahme, Breanna Lappe (Shaylon Bonney), Colby Lappe, Maddy Chilner, Alexa (Christian) Hoffman, Morgan Lappe, Payton Reglein, Jacob Lappe, Riley Chilner, Tyler Lappe, Jack Lappe, Ashley Lappe, and Jozlyn Lappe; 6 great-grandchildren: Mariana Barrientos, Adelina Barrientos, Kayson Bonney, Christopher Lappe, Holden Hoffman, Bentley Russell, Kayden Bonney, and another great-granddaughter on the way; 2 sisters: Diane Lappe of Templeton, IA; and Sheila Lappe of Templeton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Fred is preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Lappe; son: Christopher Lappe, parents: Arthur and Barbara Lappe, brother Orrin Lappe, and sister Debra McMichael.
