Proposed traffic restriction on Pleasant Ridge Road and developer offers for the Golfview subdivision return to the Carroll City Council agenda for their meeting next week. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. According to City Manager Aaron Kooiker, city officials tabled a proposed ordinance amendment that would restrict semi traffic on Pleasant Ridge Roade during their Aug. 26 meeting to give the public more time to weigh in on the proposed plan.
City officials directed Carroll Police Chief Brad Burke to collect additional data on Pleasant Ridge Road’s truck traffic, which he will present to the council at Monday’s meeting. Kooiker says the council is still accepting public input.
Ordinance amendments require multiple readings to be approved, so any action taken at Monday’s meeting will not end the matter. Later in the meeting, the council will review proposals from two developers interested in purchasing the approximately 4.5 acres on the Carroll Municipal Golf Course’s western edge.
The council can either reject both proposals or accept one and proceed with the required steps to sell city property. Other items on the agenda for Monday are a public hearing for a $1.655 million General Obligation capital loan note to fund the central business district street resurfacing project and traffic signal design services, which will be repaid using tax increment finance (TIF) collections, and a report from city staff who participated in the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) Access Washington trip earlier this month. Monday’s meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel. Links to the agenda and video are included below.
