The Sac City Chamber invites everyone to the annual Porkoberfest festival tomorrow (Thursday) evening in Sac City to celebrate Sac County’s ties to the pork industry. Held yearly in partnership with the Iowa Pork Producers, the Porkoberfest celebration has a full lineup of activities from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For the past month, the Sac City Chamber has been collecting donations for the annual favorite, kiss the pig penny war. The five contestants include Dale Wegner, Mercedes Noethe, Chuck LaFoy, Stacey Carlson, and Biddy Bettin, with the last update of Noethe in the lead. Kids’ activities, such as face painting, balloon animals, grain wagon basketball, Miss Piggy Express, and more, will be all throughout downtown Sac City. Adults can shop at the nine different vendors that will be present, along with local businesses extending hours with some type of special. A free meal of pork burgers with sides will be available throughout the evening. Registration for the Porkoberfest cornhole tournament will be right before 5:30 p.m. for $20 a team. Partners can have a chance to win the 100% payback of money received during registrations. Again, the Sac City Chamber and Iowa Pork Producers encourage all to celebrate during the annual Porkoberfest tomorrow (Thursday) evening.
