The Carroll County Democrats are hosting a women’s rally this weekend to allow potential voters to register for the Nov. 5 election and meet some of the candidates appearing on the ballot. The family-friendly event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Graham Park Band Shell in Carroll. The list of scheduled speakers includes Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart, Iowa House Assistant Minority Leader Amy Nielsen, U.S. House of Representatives Candidate Ryan Melton, Iowa Democratic Women’s Caucus Chair Mary Weaver, Carroll County Board of Supervisors District 5 Candidate Cindy Johnson, and Carroll Community School District Board of Education Member Jill Johnston. Volunteers will help voters check their registration status and assist in the voter registration process if necessary. Attendees are asked to bring chairs, blankets, and homemade signs to the program. Forky’s Food Truck will also be selling food in Graham Park from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Early voting in Iowa opens on Oct. 16, with Election Day on Nov. 5.
