David Davis, a Libertarian from Harlan, is running for a second time to be elected to represent District 6 in the Iowa State Senate. Davis previously ran in the general election for the Senate seat in 2022 but was outvoted by current District 6 Senator Jason Schultz. Davis, a retired truck driver, and U.S. Army veteran says he has always wanted to serve and is running again because he knows he has something to offer the State of Iowa.
Davis was born in Bellevue, Neb., but has lived in Harlan since 2012 after 27 years in the U.S. Army, Iowa Army National Guard, and Army Reserve, serving in both Desert Shield/Storm and the Global War on Terror. Davis says the issues that he would like to focus on are balancing budgets, IVF treatments for fertility, qualified immunity, and protecting property landowners’ rights from the controversial carbon capture pipeline.
Davis also supports term limits to prevent politicians from making a career out of politics at both the State and Federal levels. He strongly supports the Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, which gives the right to own firearms. Davis encourages all eligible to exercise their right to vote, allowing him to represent the voices of the Iowa people in the State Senate.
Davis is running against current District 6 Senator Jason Schultz (R-Schleswig) in the upcoming election. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from Schultz in upcoming newscasts. Both candidates are expected to appear during the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s forum on Oct. 15 at the Carroll Rec Center. Early voting in Iowa opens Oct. 16.
