Audubon County officials are asking for resident’s input on the updated Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. A draft of the 2024 plan is now available for review before the adoption of the final version. A county planning committee consisted of members from the Audubon County Emergency Management, Audubon County Board of Supervisors, the cities of Audubon, Brayton, Exira, Gray, and Kimballton, as well as the community school districts of Audubon and Exira-EHK. Each jurisdiction partnered to collect surveys and data to assist with creating a plan for potential hazards that may affect the community, such as natural disasters and hazmat situations. By having a procedure in place, the impact of the risk is lessened because measures were taken to ensure the safety of residents and property. Another added benefit of a Hazard Mitigation Plan is the eligibility for FEMA Hazard Mitigation grants to help fund any equipment or other programs as part of the plan. A link to the survey and the 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan has been included below. Comments will be accepted until Nov. 11.
