The Pomeroy Covenant Church will hold its second annual clothing pick and pull this Friday and Saturday, aiding surrounding community members with free clothing and other essential items. Rachel Kohnen, a member of the adult ministry team and the event organizer, says it was back in 2016 that the church really pursued the idea of being more than just a place of worship for residents of Pomeroy.
Around that same time, Pomeroy Covenant started fundraising for the addition that became The Outreach Center. Kohnen says the gymnasium and six extra classrooms were exactly what the church needed to bring this idea to life.
The Pomeroy Covenant Pick and Pull event will be this Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Kohnen says last year’s event helped 150 families from eight counties.
Kohnen wants it to be made clear that there are no guidelines for participating in this free clothing event.
Again, the second annual Pomeroy Covenant Pick and Pull Clothing drive is this Friday and Saturday at The Outreach Center in the church. While the group is no longer accepting clothing donations for this drive, individuals can still contribute online to the center to provide formula and diapers for families in need.
