Authorities Release Additional Details From Monday Morning Rollover North Of Carroll

Authorities have released additional details from the single-vehicle rollover accident north of Carroll yesterday (Monday) morning. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander van, operated by 48-year-old Felipe de Jesus Reyes-Velazquez of Des Moines and owned by Alfredo Godina-Rocha of Des Moines, was traveling westbound on 150th Street between Noble and Mahogany Avenues at approximately 9:05 a.m. when he crossed into the eastbound lane and overcorrected. The van rolled, coming to rest on its top on the south shoulder. Based on the initial report, Reyes Velazquez did not possess a valid driver’s license. A passenger, 24-year-old Carlos Pedroza Del Gado, was ejected from the van during the crash and was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of incapacitating injuries. A second passenger, 24-year-old Esteban Cruz Zamaripa, was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services with non-life-threatening injuries. Reyes Valazquez and a third passenger were treated at the scene and released. The Carroll Police and Fire Departments also assisted at the scene.
