The Carroll Recreation Center and Central Church are partnering to host one of the area’s largest trunk-or-treats this weekend in Graham Park. On Saturday, Oct. 26, vehicles will line the road through the park from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jill Miller, a Rec Center staff member, says Central Church has hosted a trunk-or-treat for several years out at Swan Lake, but this is the first time the city and the church have partnered to hold one in town.
The city will close Grant Road from the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Campus to E. 7th Street and the road that runs through Graham Park during the event to provide a safe environment for attendees. Miller says the closures also make room for some of the other attractions they have planned.
Miller adds they will also have face painting and a variety of inflatables stationed around Graham Park for the costumed kids to enjoy. Several food trucks will be parked during the event offering food. As of Wednesday afternoon, more than 40 vehicles have registered to decorate a car and hand out candy. There is still time to sign up, but the deadline is 5 p.m. today (Thursday), and those can be completed using the link included below.
