The East Sac County (ESC) Community School District (CSD) can purchase around $6,000 worth of new books and activities for students to enjoy. During conferences, the book fair was open this week, and half of all sales were donated in Scholastic dollars to the library to purchase new materials. In four days, the ESC book fair made over $12,000 in sales, that’s over 1,500 books purchased. ESC Librarian Teresa Bettin says, “This book fair was the most successful one to date. We want to thank our volunteers who helped at the fair and the high school and fifth through sixth-grade students who helped the younger elementary kids create their wish lists. While nothing has been decided yet besides purchasing books, we are considering using some of the funding for an author visit or for newer furnishings like a book return or a browsing shelf. There are always student requests for book ideas and a need for more materials.” Bettin looks forward to the ESC Elementary’s book fair during spring conferences, with the bar now set higher.
