Carroll Woman Faces Multiple Felony Charges Following High-Speed Pursuit Thursday Evening

A Carroll woman was taken into custody yesterday (Thursday) evening after allegedly fleeing from the scene of a motor vehicle accident. According to a Carroll Police Department affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Brookdale Drive at approximately 7:30 p.m. After officers arrived on the scene, a driver, identified as 18-year-old Kylie Jo Felix of Carroll, attempted to elude law enforcement by fleeing the scene in a 2022 Nissan Maxima. Felix reached speeds of up to 96 mph during the pursuit and failed to yield to authorities’ lights and sirens. The pursuit ended at approximately 8:10 p.m. near the Highway 71 and 260th Street intersection, about six miles south of Carroll, following the deployment of spike strips. Felix refused to comply with field sobriety testing but supplied a preliminary breath test (PBT), which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit. Authorities say Felix then caused an estimated $1,500 to a patrol vehicle while she was being taken into custody, damaging the hood and cracking its front windshield. She was booked into the Carroll County jail on charges of eluding at speeds 25 mph or more over the limit and second-degree criminal mischief, class D felonies, first-offense operating under the influence, a serious misdemeanor, interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor, and various traffic violations. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Carroll Police Department during the pursuit.
