Carroll County Landfill Report Shows Potential For Operations Through 2078

A recent report presented to the Carroll County Solid Waste Commission shows Carroll County’s landfill is well-positioned for continued operations for at least the next 20 years, perhaps longer. Once every five or so years, the commission completes a facility strategic plan and financial analysis. According to Director Mary Wittry, the landfill is tentatively scheduled for expansion in 2033, and they have several paths to choose from.

When all of those options are combined, the Carroll County landfill is estimated to have enough space for garbage through 2078. Wittry says it is difficult to plan that far ahead, but it is already a discussion point for the commission’s board of directors.

Financially speaking, Wittry says the Carroll County landfill and recycling center are in excellent shape for the foreseeable future.
