G-R Students Perform At Or Above State Average In Science, English, But Lag Slightly In Math Proficiency

Students in the Glidden-Ralston (G-R) Community School District are outperforming the statewide average in most state-tracked metrics concerning school performance. The G-R Elementary and G-R Jr./Sr. High Schools both earned “commendable” ratings from the Iowa Department of Education, indicating additional support is not required. G-R had a four-year graduation rate of 90.48 percent, which exceeded the state average by nearly three points. Just under 66 percent of K-12 students tested as grade-level proficient in mathematics, which did fall about four points below the state average. However, student growth rate in the subject outpaced the state average by five points. G-R students performed satisfactorily in English language arts proficiency, testing on par with the statewide figures. Additionally, the district exceeded median growth rates in English by nearly 10 points. G-R students outpaced average Iowa students in science proficiency by almost 3.5 points, 64.94 percent to 61.55 percent. A link to a more detailed breakdown of G-R’s 2024 report is included with this story on our website. Carroll Broadcasting will have more from other area schools in upcoming newscasts.
