Fuel prices in Iowa trended downward in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Nov. 20, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.75, down five cents from last week’s price and 21 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline was down one cent on Wednesday to $3.07 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices averaged one cent lower than the previous week at $3.30 per gallon, compared to $4.18 per gallon last year. The national average for diesel on Wednesday was 24 cents higher than local prices at $3.54 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site spiked 22 cents to $3.20 per MMBtu. Propane prices were down one cent to a $1.53 per gallon average, while home heating oil prices climbed one cent to $2.81 per gallon.
