Charles “Chuck” Douglas Nolan Jr., age 72, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, IA, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at Carroll First Assembly of God Church at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 9, 2024 with Pastor Dave Hagen officiating. Casket bearers will be Dana Cook, Cody Silva, Christian Cook, Caden Cook, Bryan List, and Phil Lago, Sr.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Chuck was born on April 25, 1952 in Landstuhl, Germany. He was the son of Charles Sr. and Eleanor (Truffa) Nolan. He grew up in Illinois, Mississippi, and California during his father’s military career in the Army. Chuck graduated from Manteca High School in Manteca, California in 1970. Following high school, he worked for Libby–Owens–Ford Glass Company in their lab making glass. At work is where he met the love of his life, Janice Newell. They were married on April 13, 1990 at Carson City, Nevada. The couple made their home in Manteca, California for 15 years before retiring and moving to Coon Rapids. Chuck had a gem cutting lab at his home, where he perfected his craft as a Master Gem Cutter and Certified Gemologist. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and restoring campers. Most of all, Chuck loved to spend time with his family.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Janice of Coon Rapids; a daughter, Sherry Schluchter (Scott) of Grand Junction, CO; a son, Scott Nolan (Kimberly) of Sioux City, IA; a daughter, Whisper Walker (Shane) of Sac City, IA; a daughter, Jalayne Silva (Mark Bauer) of Coon Rapids; a son, Dana Cook (Cassie) of Coon Rapids; a daughter, Nicole Thompson of Coon Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Nolan (Jaqueline) of Concord, NC; 3 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Eleanor Nolan; a son, Christopher at age 14; and a sister, Eleanor McDaniels.
