Whiterock Conservancy Trail Bridge Recieves Extensive Damage After Strong Winds This Past Week

Whiterock Conservancy staff are working to repair a bridge on one of the recreational trails after receiving extensive damage during the last windstorm. The bridge is located on the Big Dipper Trail, north of the Star Field Campground southeast of Coon Rapids, which is used for hiking and mountain biking. While crews are working to repair the bridge, the area is limited to public access to ensure safety. Executive Director of Whiterock Conservancy, Kate Zimmerman, says there is no specific timeline of when the bridge will be fixed, as crews need to clear the area before any repairs can be made. Zimmerman apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused any trail users wishing to take advantage of the warmer December weather but appreciates everyone’s understanding and patience.
