A Denison man is facing multiple felony charges after shooting at officers with an air rifle while attempting to take him into custody. According to Crawford County District Court records, 53-year-old Tyson Patrick Campbell attempted to get inside of a vehicle with the owner and her two kids inside in the 200 block of South 15th Street on Jan. 5, by punching the window and yelling at her to get out. While the victim was driving away, Campbell threw a log at the vehicle, causing damage. Shortly after, Campbell called the Crawford County Jail, threatening the jailer that he had a grenade and would use it against officers. When officers arrived at his residence, Campbell refused to comply with law enforcement, stating he was going to use a shotgun to blow the officer’s head off. Campbell was observed by Denison City Police Department to grab at a rifle, shooting at the officers before being detained. Campbell is currently in the custody at the Crawford County Jail being held on a $100,000 cash only bond. Campbell faces four counts of assault on persons in certain occupations, second-degree attempted burglary, interference with official acts displaying dangerous weapon, threat of terrorism, all class D felonies, and second-degree harassment, a serious misdemeanor. He is also facing a previous charge of going armed with intent, a class D felony, for an incident that occurred back in October 2024. If convicted, Campbell can face up to 41 years in prison for all charges, and a maximum fine of $84,610.
