Region XII Council of Governments is collaborating with the City of Coon Rapids and a soon-to-be-developed task force to create a comprehensive plan to continue building and developing the community. The plan will address critical needs to promote economic opportunities and improve the quality-of-life for residents. Coon Rapids Community Coordinator Katie Mason says the last comprehensive plan for Coon Rapids was completed back in 2016, and it’s recommended to update the plan every five to ten years.
Mason says the data collection in the comprehensive plan is the first step to completing various projects, especially when looking to obtain grant funding.
City officials are looking for volunteers to join a task force to assist them and Region XII complete the comprehensive plan. Mason says there is no special expertise required, just need to have a passion for making Coon Rapids the best it can be.
Mason says volunteers can be expected to serve on the task force for the next six months, spending around three to five hours a month working with Region XII and city officials.
