James Frampton of Audubon

James “Jim” Arthur Frampton, son of Lowell and Evelyn (Jensen) Frampton, was born January 30, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and died January 25, 2025, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 26 days.

Jim was baptized at the Altamont Baptist Church in Harlan, Iowa. He attended Audubon Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1969. After school, he began working as a farmhand and farmed independently. He then went to Lansman Seed, Purina Mills, and MoorMans Feed, all in Audubon, Iowa. Following that, he found his passion for trucking and worked for Suhr, Larsen Brothers, and Handlos Farms.

On June 19, 1971, he was united in marriage to Kathy (McLaughlin) Frampton at the United Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Bridget, Rene, Rachel, and Justin. They raised their kids west of Audubon, where they grew row crops and raised livestock. In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed taking his family on weekend trips for trail riding with their horses and was passionate about helping his kids take care of their 4-H calves and spending time at the County Fair. In more recent years, you would find him cruising around town on his beloved Harley Davidson or in his Camaro or enjoying a cup of coffee with friends at Darrell’s. Jim was known for his unique way with humor and joketelling and loved to make people laugh. But most of all, his pride and joy were his kids and grandkids, and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lowell Frampton and Evelyn Frampton; his sister-in-law, Chris Frampton, and his son-in-law, Brian Rustvold.

Survivors include his children Bridget and husband Pat Obermeier and Rene Rustvold and significant other JR Paulsen all of Audubon, Iowa, Rachel and husband Dennis Riesberg of Keystone, Nebraska, and Justin and wife Dani Frampton of Grimes, Iowa; his grandchildren Brittni and husband Cody Williams of Hamlin, Iowa, Kyra and husband Jake Williams of Audubon, Iowa, Sydney Obermeier and significant other Ben Kingery of Kansas City, Missouri and Casey, IA, Nate Paulsen of Exira, IA, Harley Riesberg and Aspen Riesberg both of Southerland, Nebraska, Parker Riesberg of Keystone, Nebraska, Bristol, Macyn, Riggs and Kase Frampton all of Grimes, Iowa; his great-grandchildren Ryker, Bennett, and Koen Williams all of Hamlin, Iowa, Weston, Maverick, and Peyton Williams of Audubon, Iowa; his brother Graig and wife Cindy Frampton of Mobile, Alabama and sister Dixie and husband Jim Nelson of Manilla, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, with Rev. Carla Evers officiating.
