Elmer W. Bedford of Carroll

Elmer W. Bedford, age 87, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge surrounded by family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Patrick Behm as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Deb Koster.  Gift bearers will be Charlie Bedford, Hannah Schneeberger and Inna Bedford. Casket Bearers will be Samantha Bedford, Connor Bedford, Ryan Bedford, John and Emily Goebel and Nick Schneeberger. Music for the Mass will be by Jane Heithoff with Kathleen Macke as Cantor. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2025 where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:00 P.M.   The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Born on January 6, 1938 in Carroll, IA he was the son of CW and Margaret Bedford. He graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. After high school, he joined his dad in the sale barn and trucking business. On June 15, 1963, Elmer married Kathryn Badding at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple made their home in Carroll where they raised their four children. Elmer was a member of the St. Lawerence Church. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, going out for coffee, and socializing.

Elmer is survived by his children: Frank Bedford of Indian Head, IL, Steve (Nicole) Bedford of Fort Dodge, IA, Mary (Mike) Osdoba of Minnesota Lake, MN and Joseph Bedford of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren, Connor (Inna) Bedford, Samantha Bedford, Ryan Bedford, Charlie Bedford, Emily (John) Goebel, Hannah (Nick) Schneeberger, Azul Bedford, Kai Bedford,  Grace (Wayne) Lundeen,  and five great grandchildren: Sawyer Goebel, Norah Goebel, Archie Bedford, Jaxon Lundeen, and Cruze Lundeen.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Bedford, his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Bedford, his parents, CW and Margaret Bedford, and his sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Paul Grote.
