Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has honored two fuel retailers, both operating in the listening area, for their leadership in promoting biofuels in the state. Sparky’s One Stop, operated by Al’s Corner Oil Company, received the 2025 Ethanol Marketing Award, while Pro Cooperative, a farmer-owned cooperative headquartered in Pocahontas, was recognized with the 2025 Biodiesel Marketing Award. Naig presented the award to Sparky’s One Stop during a Feb. 7 visit to its Rockwell City location. Pro Cooperative will receive its award at a later date. Naig says, “Biofuels are a win-win for everyone. Consumers get access to more affordable, cleaner burning fuels. Our farmers have more markets for their crops, and we generate more economic activity in our rural communities. That’s why the State of Iowa is partnering with fuel retailers to expand infrastructure and increase the availability of higher biofuel blends around the state, giving drivers even more homegrown choices at the pump.” Al’s Corner Oil Company has been in business since 1934 and operates stations in 23 western and northwestern Iowa communities. Iowa leads the nation in ethanol and biodiesel production, contributing $7.2 billion to the state’s GDP and supporting 57,000 jobs. The state’s E15 Access Standard, requiring most fuel retailers to offer E15 by 2026, continues to expand biofuel availability across Iowa.
