The City of Wall Lake will be investing approximately $23,000 of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) dollars into Twilight Acres, to assist with upgrades and continue to have operations running efficiently. Per Iowa Code, when a city collects TIF money, a portion of the amount is meant to provide services for low-and-moderate income families (LMI). City Clerk, Chris Rodman, says city officials and the council believe that investing the money into Twilight Acres is the best way to spend the dollars required for LMI families for two big reasons.

The City of Wall Lake has been accumulating the $23,000 in TIF for the past seven years. Every year when Wall Lake residents pay taxes, more TIF dollars will be collected and put back into the long-term care facility. Rodman says there are many projects administration and staff is looking to have completed, but want to make sure they are completing them as efficiently as possible.

Other projects eventually needing to be completed include replacing boilers for the water-heating system and the outdate large-capacity cooler used by kitchen staff. Rodman says the Twilight Acres is a great asset to the Wall Lake community, and that city officials are taking great steps to ensure the future of the long-term care facility to continue to serve residents in their next stages in life.
