Rep. Williams Leads His First Bill Through Iowa House With Unanimous Approval

District 11 State Representative Craig Williams (R-Manning) celebrated a legislative milestone this week as his first bill as floor manager passed without a single no vote. Williams says House File 298 was created to help troubled teens under 18 have a place to live when their options are limited.

Williams says he did not author this legislation, as it came to him through his House Judiciary Committee assignment. However, it was one he supported and was proud to lead through the house.

The bill passed through the Iowa House on Monday 88-0. Williams says most legislation is bipartisan in nature, with only a few truly contentious ones each session. A unanimous vote, however, is almost always something to celebrate.

While Williams can’t speak as to what the Iowa Senate will do with the bill, he suspects there will be very little, if any, opposition.
