Jean was born in Carroll, Iowa on April 23, 1950, to Julian and Lucille (Mundt) Julich, the 4th oldest of 9 children. Residing on the family farm north of Carroll, Jean attended Mt. Carmel Catholic school before graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1968. She then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and attended business school for a short time before going to work at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She married Rick Hoesing on August 12, 1972. They moved to Perry, Iowa in 1983 when they purchased the Mr. Automotive Auto Parts Store. Jean learned very quickly the inner workings of the auto parts world. Customers would often comment on her knowledge of all things automotive, frequently asking for her, when greeted by Rick. When the store was sold in 1994, she went on to get her CNA certification and was employed as a CNA at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home until she retired in 2020.
Jean was a devoted mother to Ben, her pride and joy. She enjoyed going to Ben’s sporting events during his school years. While initially concerned, she then enjoyed attending his stock car races across the Midwest. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, and her favorite driver was Ryan Blaney. Jean also enjoyed spending time with her family, whether in Carroll or Omaha. This included holidays, campouts, and various other family events. Jean and Rick were a host family to foreign exchange students from several different countries. Jean was always eager to get back together with both her immediate and extended family. She adored her two granddaughters.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Lucille Julich and a nephew Jason. She is survived by her husband Rick; son Ben (Brandi) and granddaughters Kennedy and Reece, all of Kanawha; her siblings Ron (Jill) of Minnesota; Dave (Jefferee) of Colorado; and Dan, Roger (Deb), Tom (Sandy), Elaine Wittrock (Ron), Dale, and Donna Snyder (Jim), all of Carroll, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Pam of Nebraska. She is also survived by a large extended family who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
