Countdown To 2025 Carroll Merchants Seasons Is On

A sure sign that spring is here is the return of crowds to baseball stadiums across the county, and Carroll is just six weeks away from opening day for the Carroll Merchants. Chris Whitaker, the Merchants’ general manager, says the countdown is on, and preparations are fully underway for that first series on Memorial Day weekend. Whitaker says one of their first and most pressing tasks is to find housing for the team’s players.

Whitaker adds that many families were hesitant at first to host but have come back year after year to welcome a player into their home. If you are interested in hosting a Merchants player, you can contact Whitaker via Facebook or email, and he will connect you with the host family committee.

Whitaker adds Merchants players come from across the nation, some from other countries. This year’s team will have players from more than a dozen states and players from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Merchants Park opens on Memorial Day, May 26, at 4 p.m. with a game against the KC Monarchs. The Merchants are again offering their $125 booster club package to fans, which includes two t-shirts and admission to 40 games, and the $300 Grand Slam Sponsor for area businesses.
