More than 5,000 of Iowa’s best young dancers showcase their talents every year, in what is considered one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious events, the Iowa State Dance Team Championships. Last year, teams from 270 high schools and 26 colleges competed for state championship honors at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. Iowa Public Television will be presenting exclusive, statewide coverage of the 2017 competition, taking place on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. This two-hour program will feature highlights from the winning routines and snapshots of the busy backstage action. The competition will be rebroadcast at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12.
