Glidden City Council Approves Water And Sewage Rate Increases

The Glidden City Council approved an increase to water and sewage rates for its utility customers during their meeting Monday night. The city is continuously making progress on moving forward with an estimated $3.5 million dollar wastewater project and is expecting it to be operational by mid-2020. Officials decided an increase to the rates would help reduce “sticker-shock” on the future facility when the final cost analysis is complete. Beginning July 1, water rates will become $10.29 per 1,000 gallons with a $10 per month customer charge. Sewer rates, originally 50 percent of a customer’s water bill, will now be 75 percent, or $7.72 per 1,000 gallons.
