The Glidden City Council has approved two road repair projects to be completed this summer and finalized their plans during their meeting this week. Each year, the city makes repairs to road tops in need of replacement. The council contracted Blacktop Service Company, based in Humboldt, to manage the project. Usually the city only works on a few locations, but according to City Clerk, Suzy Danner, the council decided to add a few more locations to the efforts.
The project is estimated to cost nearly $100,000. Danner says they chose the locations based on need and use.
Six of the lanes of the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery will be coated with new blacktop along with 10th Street north of Highway 30, Minnesota Street between 8th and 5th Streets, 5th Street east of Utah Street, Carroll Street and several alleys throughout town. Work is expected to begin as soon as possible and will last into the summer.
