Iowa House Republicans announced Thursday that 67-year-old Greg Forristall, a representative from Macedonia, passed away at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha Wednesday after losing his battle with cancer. 12th District Representative, Brian Best of Glidden, says they were all saddened by the news.
When Best was first elected, he says the southwest Iowa representative and his wife Carol were the first members of the legislature to congratulate and welcome him two years ago.
Forristall was re-elected last year to his sixth term representing District 22 and had over the past 11 years severed on various committees, most recently as leader of the education and labor committees. Prior to earning his seat in 2006, he was a member of several boards including Iowa Western Community College, the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and the Iowa State Board of Education.
