Carroll Man Arrested After Threatening Another Man With A Machete

A Carroll man was arrested last weekend after he threatened another man while camping. At approximately 9:26 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an altercation at Hobbs County Park near Lanesboro. According to the victim, the suspect, 49-year-old Kenneth Emerson Morris, of Carroll, had been drinking and became belligerent. Morris tackled the victim and wrestled him to the ground. According to the victim, he gained control of the situation and let Morris stand back up. Morris then grabbed a machete and placed it against the victim’s neck. After the altercation, the deputy noticed Morris had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. Morris refused to cooperate with the officer and was arrested. He has been charged with public intoxication-second offense, a serious misdemeanor, and assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was transported to the Carroll County Jail and released. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate on July 27.
