A traffic stop on Friday, July 14 ended with three 20-year-old men facing alcohol charges. At approximately 11:38 p.m., a Jefferson Police officer pulled over a vehicle in the 600 block of West Russell Street. During the stop, he spotted an open container of alcohol beside the driver. There were four occupants in the vehicle, and they were all asked to step outside as the officer conducted a probable cause search. Nicholas Cleghorn of Ames, Michael Mourlam of Scranton and Nathan Cleghorn of Ames were all charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age. Nicholas Cleghorn was also charged with an open container violation. A small amount of a substance believed to be marijuana was also located, and charges are pending the results of lab tests.
