Gov. Reynolds Responds To EPA’s Final RFS Volumes

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Scott Pruitt, just released the final rule on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volumes for the upcoming year, and Gov. Kim Reynolds says his announcement shows he is listening to Iowa and taking our concerns into consideration. On the other hand, she adds, it also shows there is more work yet to be done. “I want to thank the EPA for setting the volume for conventional ethanol at the maximum of 15 billion gallons,” Reynolds says. “That is important for our farmers and our economy.” She adds that she is also pleased to see them raise the cellulosic and advanced biofuel volumes from what was proposed in July. But, she was disappointed they did not opt to raise the biodiesel volume. This move, she says, is counterproductive to the ongoing investment and growth in the industry, which the RFS was designed to achieve. Reynolds will continue to fight for renewable fuels in Iowa and is letting Administrator Pruitt know up front that he will be hearing from her…a lot.
