The Lake View Fire Department is seeing a budget increase of nearly $1,000 for FY 2018-19 after a budget proposal was approved by the townships they serve. The fire department serves the communities and rural areas in Clinton, Coon Valley Viola and Wall Lake Townships. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says a budget meeting is held every year to determine what kind of funding the department will receive.
Budgets for the last three years were around $57,000, and the 2018-19 budget was approved for $58,330. Peterson says the budget generally does not change much from year to year and goes to cover a variety of different costs for the department.
Peterson says each township contributes a different amount to the budget based on the number of residents and taxable value.
The Lake View Fire Department covers an area of about 150 square miles in southeast Sac County and responds to about 23 calls per year.
