More than 3,000 people are expected to bring their four-legged friends to the second annual jumping competition in Ames next week. Featured on ESPN, ABC and the Outdoor Channel, the DockDogs National Canine Aquatics event spans three days from Monday, July 2 through Wednesday, July 4. Dogs of all shapes, sizes and athletic abilities will be jumping from the dock on Burnett Avenue in three main events; big air, extreme vertical and speed retrieval. It all starts at 6 p.m. Monday with big air wave jumping and amateur night. It will take all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m. on the 3rd with big air wave jumping and then the extreme vertical jump competition from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Then, the pared down groups will perform once again in the morning of July 4, preparing for the finals with speed retrieving at 4 p.m. and the big air finals at 6 p.m. More information about the event and details about how to register a dog can be found by following the link included here.
