It is a different scenario for Carroll County’s new recorder, Republican Ashten Wittrock, who will be sworn in to office at the next regularly scheduled supervisor’s meeting. In this situation, the incumbent Recorder, Democrat Kathy Schwaller, was appointed to the position early this year, not elected to the seat. Because of this, Schwaller will not finish out the year in that role and Wittrock will take over immediately. Wittrock says tensions ran high Tuesday night as early voting was not in her favor.
Wittrock was at a Carroll County Republican watch party at Greasewood Flats, and says the mood in the room turned pretty quickly as precinct reports started coming in.
Right now, Wittrock is serving as the Real Estate Deputy at the Carroll County Auditor’s Office, but after being sworn in next Tuesday, she will be getting to work across the hall.
Wittrock says the entire process has been an incredible experience for her.
In recognition of Veterans’ Day, the supervisor meeting has been moved to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, and will be held in the board room at the Carrol County Courthouse.
