Officials Approve $13,000 Update To Traffic Lights In Downtown Sac City

Officials have approved a much-needed upgrade to street lights in downtown Sac City. At a meeting on Tuesday, the city council voted to allocated $13,000 to replace timers on the traffic control devices at the intersection of Main and 5th Streets. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, says they could not afford to wait any longer to make the change.

According to Lawrence, no accidents have occurred due to the faulty lights and adds it is only a matter of time before they fail completely. He says they looked at trying to simply repair the lights, but that was determined not to be an option.

The traffic lights themselves will not be changed, but nearly all of the internals will be updated. Lawrence says the work could be completed as soon as early December.
