Earlier this month, the Iowa Attorney General, Tom Miller, said they have once again received reports of a banned telemarketing business soliciting Iowa consumers. Seven years ago, John Michael Zampieri, III of Destin Fla. and Life Quest of America, which is based in Mobile Ala., were barred from calling or mailing Iowans. The Polk County judgment also ordered the company to pay $12,000 to Iowa consumers who purchased Life Quest products and an additional $12,000 to the state. Miller alleges that Life Quest, which is a for-profit company, employed telemarketers who lied about being blind while selling products such as freezer bags, light bulbs and air fresheners at extreme markups. ‘We have repeatedly uncovered deceptive practices by Zampieri’s operations. This is egregious conduct,” Miller says.
