Blizzard Cleanup Continues In Carroll, Now With A Focus On Sidewalks

We are closing in on nearly a full week since the blizzard, and Carroll Police Chief, Brad Burke, took a look back at how his officers had to deal with the dangerous weather.

He says law enforcement and weather service agencies in this portion of the state were advising people to stay where they are, and not to venture out into the storm. There were, however, many instances where that advice was ignored.

He says since they have gotten all stranded motorists assisted and helped get vehicles off the streets, they are now free to focus on advising residents to get their sidewalks cleared.

And Burke has used the experience to make some adaptations to the snow ordinance policy. This is ready to go before the city council at a meeting in the near future.

Carroll officers issued a lot of tickets for cars parked on the streets during and after the storm. Burke reminds residents the ordinance states vehicles must remain off the street until the road has been cleared by city crews. He adds, the only time a resident is allowed to park a vehicle in their yard is when the snow ordinance is in effect.
