Carroll Woman Transported For Treatment After Losing Control Of Pickup On Icy Patch Thursday Night

A Carroll woman was transported for medical treatment following a single-vehicle accident on Thursday evening. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to 110th Street at approximately 11 p.m. Thirty-two-year-old Sonya May Smires was eastbound in a 2003 Ford F-350 when she hit an icy patch and lost control. Smires overcorrected, causing the vehicle to enter the north ditch, where it then hit a compacted pile of snow and rolled multiple times. The truck came to rest on its wheels and against a wooden fence post. Smires was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage done to the pickup and Smires was cited for driving with a denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked license and failure to maintain control.
