The Glidden City Council has approved the final reading of an ordinance that would tighten restrictions on fireworks within city limits. At their meeting Monday night, the council voted unanimously to change the city’s code, which previously abided by the recommend state guidelines, to now restrict fireworks use from July 1 through July 8 and Dec. 31 through Jan. 1. The ordinance also limits the times they can be used to between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on those dates. The ordinance went into effect after being printed in the city’s designated publication earlier this week.
