There was an estimated $4,500 damage to a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup in a single-vehicle accident last night (Thursday) on Highway 30 near Olympic Ave. on the east side of Carroll. The Carroll County Sheriff’s office responded to the accident at approximately 12:55 a.m. to find that 30-year-old Kristell Emily Simacek of Lake City was traveling eastbound on 30 when she lost control, crossing the roadway and entering the north ditch. She continued eastbound in the ditch for nearly a tenth of a mile, then swerved south at which time the vehicle began to rotate clockwise, reentering the roadway. The Simacek vehicle continued sliding in a south easterly direction before rolling onto the driver’s side in about the center of the roadway. The truck eventually came to rest on the shoulder in the eastbound lane. Simacek complained of minor injuries, but did not immediately seek treatment. She was charged with Failure to Maintain Control, Operating While Intoxicated—second offense, and Driving Without A License.
