Local distiller, Templeton Rye, has been gathering up accolades this spring, winning two gold medals along with an outstanding rating. Earlier this week, an announcement was made that two batches, Templeton Rye 4 Year and Templeton Rye 6 Year, were presented with the coveted gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). These awards recognize the best products from around the world, those that are “near the pinnacle of achievement…that set the standards for others.” Keith Kerkhoff, co-founder of Templeton Rye, says they are delighted with the medals, saying it is a real crowning achievement for them. “With our newly opened Templeton distillery now gathering steam and our international rollout of the Templeton brand, 2019 is shaping up to be our most exciting year yet, both at home and abroad,” he says. Nearly 3,000 entries were judged at the competition, the largest number in the 19-year history of the event. In addition to the gold medals, Templeton Barrel Strength Rye received an impressive 90 rating in the spring edition of Whisky Advocate Magazine. According to the ranking details, this reflects an “outstanding whisky of superior character and style.”
